Driver

Key Responsibilities
General
1. To ensure correct loading and unloading of the vehicle considering the maximum loading capacity, proper distribution and securing of the load.
2. To keep the vehicle assigned to him clean and road-worthy.
3. To refuel the vehicle whenever necessary or when the level gets below 1/2 of the tank capacity.
4. To carry out the necessary daily and weekly check-ups as specified in (country transport or vehicle policy)
5. To ensure the safe parking, whenever possible in an Oxfam compound, of the vehicle at night, during breaks and when it is not in use.
6. To verify the presence at all time in the car of the vehicle logbook, discharge of responsibility forms, the tools and spare parts as mentioned and signed for by him/her in the logbook, a complete first aid kit and spare tyre(s) in good condition.
7. To be aware of mobile phone procedures, it’s operation and act as an operator with the vehicle.
8. To perform any other duties as requested by his/her manager.


Driving:
• To drive at a speed which is adjusted to the road and weather conditions, and to drive with consideration for the safety of the passengers, other road users, the load, and the technical state of the vehicle.
• To wear a seat belt and ensuring that the passengers in the front seats also wear their seat belts at all times when the vehicle is in motion.
• To decide whether or not to attempt to cross a difficult section of road, to continue after a technical defect has been detected, or to delay the travel.
• To immediately notify his superior as well as the local authorities in case of any accident in which he is involved.
• To place the car keys on the key board whenever the vehicle is parked in an Oxfam compound.


Administration:
• To keep his/her driving licence valid and ready for inspection.
• To make sure all necessary vehicle documents (e.g. insurance, registration documents, etc.) are present in the vehicle and up to date.
• To ensure that they have the necessary travel permits and documents for each trip.
• To correctly fill in and update the Oxfam vehicle logbook when fuel is taken.
• To correctly fill in and sign the discharge of responsibility form by all non-Oxfam passengers.
• To carry a correctly filled in and signed waybill whenever goods are transported, and to make sure that one copy of the waybill gets signed by the receiver (storekeeper) after all goods are properly delivered and handed over to him. This signed waybill should then be handed over to the logistician.
• To settle all per diems and declaration as soon as he returns to his base.
• To assist in small local purchases and general logistic activities.

Mechanical:
• To immediately report any technical failure or damage, and need for maintenance of the vehicle to the logistician.
• To keep track of the scheduled service time of the vehicle, in order to make sure that servicing is performed in time.
• To accurately fill in the vehicle logbook after performing service checks and/or repair activities to the vehicles.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Essential
• Valid driving licence, sound driving skills and experience (an Oxfam test may be necessary)
• Basic knowledge of English language, and fluent Myanmar
• Basic servicing and maintenance skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to work long.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work.

Basic mechanical skills
